New York City has a large and active user experience community, filled with opportunities for networking and learning more about user experience. You can participate in different UX events in New York City such as classes, workshops, seminars, conferences, informal meetups, and even award events. Whether you are a dedicated UX professional or work in a related role as a designers, developers, business analysts, or product manager, there are many opportunities to meet others who work in UX related fields in and around NYC.
What types of UX events occur in NYC?
UX training events are plentiful in the NYC area. These events include UX workshops and courses in NYC such as those offered at American Graphics Institute, including the Introduction to UX Design Principles course. Longer-term UX training programs at places such as General Assembly are also an option if you are looking for a full-time training program. There are meetup groups specifically geared to people interested in UX design like the NYC CHI, which is the largest and oldest UX group in New York; NYC Uncubed, designed to connect creators in tech, business and design with companies; and NYC UX Acrobatics, a group based on developing flexibility, mental agility and coordination to balance project objectives and scope while creating effective user experiences.
There are also the UX Awards, which is dubbed “the premier global awards for exceptional digital experience,” and monthly UX workshops given by the New York City User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA), and the yearly UX Sketch Camp NYC, which brings together UX professionals, designers, developers and entrepreneurs for a one-day event focused on applying sketching principles to improve user experience design. Jennifer delivers UX training and UX consulting for large Fortune 100 companies, small start-ups, and independent software vendors.She has served as a Designer in Residence at Microsoft, assisting third-party app developers to improve their design solutions and create successful user experiences. She has been hired by Adobe and Microsoft to deliver training workshops to their staff, and has traveled to Asia, Europe, India, the Middle East, and across the U.S. to deliver courses and assist on UX design projects. She has extensive knowledge of modern UX Design, and worked closely with major tech companies to create educational material and deliver UX workshops to key partners globally. Jennifer works with a wide range of prototyping tools including XD, Sketch, Balsamiq, Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blend for Visual Studio. She also works extensively in the fields of presentation design and visual design.
Jennifer is also an expert on Photoshop, digital image editing, and photo manipulation. Having written 10 books on Photoshop, and having consulted and provided training to major media companies and businesses around the globe.
Jennifer is the author of more than 20 books on design tools and processes, including Adobe Creative Cloud for Dummies, Adobe Creative Cloud Digital Classroom, and Photoshop Digital Classroom. She has been awarded a Microsoft MVP three times for her work with user experience design in creating apps for touch, desktop, and mobile devices. Jennifer holds the CPUX-F certification from the User Experience Qualification Board and assists others in attaining this designation in leading a UX certification course at American Graphics Institute. She is a candidate for a Master’s degree in Human Factors in Information Design.
